Mitsubishi presented in Europe the name of the new B-segment car, which will be introduced in the autumn of 2023. The city car, a five-door hatchback, will be called Mitsubishi Colt and thus carries on the well-known Mitsubishi name, which has been synonymous with the brand's B-segment vehicles since the 60s. The new ASX B-SUV (coming in March 2023) will create a greater breadth in Mitsubishi's model range with the option to select electrified drivelines.

The first Mitsubishi Colt was introduced back in 1962, and the name has a long global history that has made it one of the best-known Mitsubishi models. The last Mitsubishi Colt, produced in Europe, sold over 400,000 units at the European level between 2004 and 2014.

The new Mitsubishi Colt will be produced at Renault's Bursa plant in Turkey. It comes with the latest technology and will offer several different powertrains (including hybrid). Like the new generation ASX, it will be based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance's CMF-B platform.

Frank Krol, President & CEO of Mitsubishi in Europe, says:

"The addition of the new Mitsubishi Colt Hatchback and the new Mitsubishi ASX will greatly increase our market breadth in 2023. Mitsubishi Motors has a long history in the B-segment, and the Mitsubishi Colt name is synonymous with it. We look forward to writing a new chapter in COLT history and for Mitsubishi Motors in Europe".

Sebastian Vogt, Head of Sales and Aftermarket at Mitsubishi, puts into words:

"After a quiet period for the brand, we at Mitsubishi look forward to having more products on the shelves. Both the Mitsubishi Colt and Mitsubishi ASX have historically been top-rated cars. They now land in two large segments and allow us to offer a Mitsubishi to more kinds of customers than before. And then it is clear that the two cars also represent a reassurance to our customers that Mitsubishi is back in now and in the future".
