The logistics subsidiary of the veteran Paulaner brewery is responsible for the distribution of the beer and is testing the eActros in operation by transporting pallets of kegs and boxes. In this test, eActros supplied selected restaurants and beverage businesses in the greater Munich area with beer, non-alcoholic beverages, event equipment and advertising materials such as glasses and mugs. The electric truck begins its daily journey at the Paulaner GSG logistics centre in Gräfelfing, on the western outskirts of Munich, and travels between 100 and 200 kilometres a day. The batteries are recharged overnight in the Paulaner brewery warehouse.

Since 2020, the Mercedes-Benz eActros is in the second phase of its practice tests, called "Fleet of Innovation", which began in 2018. Paulaner is now completing the tests of the Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck for heavy distribution. Mercedes-Benz Trucks plans to start serial production of the eActros at the Wörth am Rhein plant in the second half of 2021.

Rico Claassen, Key Account Management of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, says: "Since 2018, our eActros prototypes have proven their worth in continuous operation with various customers in Germany and other European countries. We are overjoyed that the eActros has arrived in Paulaner. The test in the greater Munich area completes the customer allocation of our eActros innovation fleet."

Jörg Metzner, Managing Director of Paulaner Getränke und Service GmbH, says: "We have six stores in Upper Bavaria and offer a range of about 550 different drinks and more than 350 catering items. We bring these items to our customers' cellar." Although hotels and restaurants are currently closed in Germany, we continue to provide our customers with whatever they need. In this context, environmental sustainability plays an increasingly important role for us in the logistics chain. As the testing phase has shown, the Mercedes-Benz eActros, which is CO2 neutral, is perfectly suited to our use case, which is heavy distribution in urban areas. "
