Car and Driver named the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV their 2021 EV of the Year, and Consumer Reports said it was one of the best cars to buy. In addition, Wards Automotive named the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV their 10 Best Engines, 10 Best Interior, and 10 Best UX cars. Because so many people have been happy with their vehicles, sales of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV are on track to hit 50k units this year. This time, the Mach-E has yet another notch to add to its belt, the electric car finalist for the 2022 European Car of the Year award.

In the running for the award, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is one of seven finalists. It will compete against the Cupra Born, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Peugeot 308, Renault Megane E-Tech Electric, and the Kia EV6, all-electric cars. It is also Ford's third nomination in the last four years. The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric car joins the Ford Puma and Focus. For the Ford Escort, Ford Scorpio, Ford Mondeo, Focus, and S-MAX, Ford has won ECOTY five times. Since 2007, Ford has been nominated ten times for ECOTY.

Each car in this group will be put through its paces by 61 people from 23 countries on February 7th and 8th at the CERAM test track in Mortefontaine, Paris. They will then choose the winner of the 2022 European Car of the Year award. Some countries will have more votes than others.

During a virtual event on February 28th, the winner of Europe's Car of the Year 2022 will be announced in Geneva. Ford has a chance at yet another award for its first all-electric SUV crossover, which has already won several awards.
